Moyra was born in Sydney, Australia and left school early to take up a scholarship with the Sadlers Wells Ballet. After training, she joined the company and scored her first major success in Robert Helpmann's Comas. She continued to dance major roles with the company for some years before leaving to play the principle dancing and acting role in the musical Song Of Norway at the Palace Theatre. After more musicals and pantomimes, she went to Covent Garden to play 'Venus' in the Bliss-Priestley Opera, The Olympians. She then moved to revue and scored a great personal success in Penny Plain at the St Martin's Theatre subsequently starring opposite Max Adrian in Airs On A Shoestring and Fresh Airs.
